Description
Seeking a reliable and proactive General Assistant to support the organization and its Founder with the setup of functional spaces for a Creative Arts facility. This role involves physical tasks related to moving and organizing, as well as creative problem-solving to optimize workspaces.
Responsibilities
- Assist with packing, moving, and unpacking items during the agency’s development.
- Organize and arrange furniture and equipment in new spaces.
- Create efficient storage solutions for art supplies, materials, and office items.
- Implement organizational systems to maintain a tidy and functional environment.
- Handle basic errands and tasks as needed.
- Assist with setting up displays or exhibitions, if required.
- Valid G driver’s license is an asset, but not required.
An active interest in the arts, design, and culture of the community is an asset.
Any understanding or experience with textile, machine, woodshop, or media studio is an asset.
General contracting skills/handy skills are great assets.
Scope of work can grow with specific skills.
Requirements
Required Knowledge
- Basic understanding of organizational principles.
- Familiarity with handling and moving various types of objects, including potentially fragile art materials.
- Knowledge of safety practices during physical tasks.
Skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and move items.
- Problem-solving skills to find efficient space utilization solutions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Requirements
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience in moving or organizing environments is a plus.
- Comfortable with physical labor. Interior/exterior.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Capable of navigating stairs and uneven surfaces.
Compensation
$18-$20/hour based on relevant skills and experience.
Occasional meals provided.
