The Maintenance Department of Bethesda requires one (1) 1.0 Full Time Contract Facilities Support Staff. The length of this contract is (3) three months.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  •  Perform and assist in the maintenance of plumbing, heating, and electrical systems of all building systems within all Bethesda properties.
  • Seasonal maintenance of all group homes and programs including plowing, shoveling, salting, grass cutting, and tree and shrub pruning.
  • Perform and assist in renovations of all group homes and programs as appropriate.
  • Perform and assist in group home/program moves, as required.
  •  Perform all Maintenance Requisitions for repairs, renovations, and decorating requests as directed by the Manager, Maintenance.
  • Perform and assist in the basic maintenance and major component repair replacement of all Bethesda-owned vehicles.
  • Continuously perform safety inspections of all Bethesda-owned vehicles and property.
  • Perform and assist in the maintenance/repair of all Bethesda owned property and equipment.
  • Perform and assist in the maintenance/repair of Bethesda’s back-up generation systems, sewage pumping station and lagoon.
  • Complies with Bethesda policies and procedures relating to health and safety.
  • Responsible for reporting all health and safety concerns immediately following the Internal Responsibility System.
  • All other duties as assigned.

This position requires a responsible person who is self motivated and requires little supervision.  Maintenance staff are required to be on-call on a rotational basis.

  • Secondary School Diploma.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • First Aid Training and CPR Certification.
  • Professional Communication Skills: professionally represents the company through strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Teamwork: excels at working with others and communicating with a team to provide the most effective support to clients.
  •  Problem-Solving: able to navigate challenges and barriers, always looks for potential pitfalls and risks to help mitigate problems ahead of time, and knows when to ask for help.
  • Proactive: anticipates and solves problems and issues before they are brought to your attention.
  • Physically fit to perform various activities required for the role, including the ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Fluent in French is an asset.

Interested applicants must have previous maintenance experience, knowledge of general maintenance department procedures and be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.  Preference will be given to candidates who possess an Ontario Certificate of Qualification in a relevant trade and have completed significant course work, in a relevant technical discipline, at the college level.  The successful candidate must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and be insurable. The ability to drive truck and trailer combinations is an asset.   Current First Aid and CPR certifications are required.  General computer knowledge is required.

$25.70 Hourly
