We are looking for an innovative team player to help us serve and protect the residents’ needs within the community. Reporting to the Fire Service Program Coordinator, the Fire Intern will be responsible for, or assist with a wide range of projects related to various aspects including but not limited to business and marketing development, human resources, emergency management, and administrative responsibilities for the Fire Department. This internship is designed to be educational, practical, and develop technical knowledge in a local fire department setting.  In this position, the intern will learn to apply skills acquired in school related to areas of interest in a professional setting.

Requirements

The successful candidate must possess the following:

  • Current enrollment in undergraduate or graduate studies in an accredited college or university with major course work in Public Administration, Business Administration, Marketing Development, Human Resources, Organizational Management, or a related field.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, ability to utilize other software packages relevant to supporting the Fire Department’s core requirements.
  • Ability to conduct research and prepare clear and concise reports and analyses.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, friendly and tactful manner.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, accountability and attention to detail.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service and interpersonal skills

Compensation

This is a full-time summer position, Monday – Friday 8:30 – 4:30pm. The hourly rate is $18.25.
