The Town of Lincoln is looking for a collaborative, engaging and innovative leader to be the next Climate Adaptation Coordinator. The primary responsibility of this role will be to lead and facilitate the implementation and ongoing administration of the municipal climate change priorities as identified in the Town’s climate adaptation and mitigation plans. This will involve researching and applying for grant funding and providing public engagement opportunities while developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  Through the lens of sustainability, this position will act as the subject matter expert and liaise with every department using their research and analytical skills to integrate those principles into policies, procedures and plans.

Requirements

The Successful Candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Post-secondary Degree in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science
  • Minimum three (3) years in a sustainability / climate adaptation role.
  • Minimum five (5) years of practical experience in environment project / program management and / or public consultation.
  • Highly effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with a thorough understanding of a customer-centered approach
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in the development, planning and execution of communications and engagement strategies to implement programs and policies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of climate change issues and sustainable development within the context of municipal government
  • Demonstrated experience in writing grant applications for various sources of funding.
  • Highly developed ability to articulate a vision and to engage others.
  • Highly developed research and analytical skills; data analysis to inform project conceptualization and evaluation.
  • Excellent organizational skills including ability to meet project milestones, deadlines and deliverables, monitor and track progress, budgets and be accountable.
  • Valid Ministry of Transportation Class “G” Driver’s license
  • Experience in land use planning / policy would be an asset
