The Town of Lincoln is looking for someone with strong accounting and organizational skills, and the ability to work well with others across multiple departments to fill our Accountant position within our Finance, Administration, and Innovation department. Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance, the Accountant focuses on financial accounting and providing accurate, reliable, and regular reporting of financial information.

 

In addition, this position will also collaborate with the Manager of Accounting to ensure the Town meets its mandates in an efficient and effective manner while safeguarding the Town’s assets. Ensures internal control procedures are being adhered to and that financial transactions follow corporate policy and Public Sector Accounting Standards. Performs reconciliations to validate financial data integrity and completes legislated financial reporting requirements.

 

Requirements

The Successful Candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Successful completion of a college diploma or university degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Chartered Professional Accountant Designation (CPA) preferred
  • Minimum of four to five (4 – 5) years of direct experience in the accounting field, preferably in a municipal government environment/setting
  • Excellent knowledge of finance, compliance reporting, year end and accounting functions
  • Knowledge of public finance and fiscal planning is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of municipal financial reporting requirements is considered an asset
  • Effective team builder with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Superior customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment with staff with a wide range of financial experience and knowledge
  • Thorough working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently seeking guidance when required
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

 

This is a C.U.P.E. position with an hourly wage of $34.14 based on a 35-hour work week. In addition to a dynamic and fast-paced team environment, we offer an excellent benefit package and pension plan.
